THE LOCKSMITH

Winner of the 2017 SCBWI Work-in-Progress Award for YA Fiction

THE LOCKSMITH is a young adult speculative thriller along the lines of THE BOURNE IDENTITY meets THE ITALIAN JOB with magic.

As apprentice to the Locksmith, 16-year-old orphan Lizzie Brandt is one of the best safecrackers in Vienna. When her boyfriend invites her onto his crew for a diamond heist, Lizzie jumps at the chance. But nothing is what it seems, including Lizzie herself. Only the Locksmith knows Lizzie’s deepest secret – that she’s a witch with the ability to transmute both objects and herself.

When the heist goes awry, the Locksmith’s secrets unravel, and Lizzie finds herself on the run from the CIA, Interpol, and the crew’s shot caller. With the help of a boy thief she barely knows, Lizzie follows the clues to Dubrovnik and Prague, determined to make things right. But in the game of life and death, there are some things even Lizzie shouldn’t change.
